WordPress Meetups and WordCamps
WordPress Meetups and WordCamps are for every WordPress user.
Every year thousands of WordPress users around the world attend WordPress meetups and WordCamps. Yet so many others have no idea they even exist or what they are. So let’s take a look at what a WordPress meetup is and what a WordCamp is, and how both can help WordPress users.
What is a WordPress Meetup?
WordPress meetups are meetings of WordPress users all over the world. Usually they meet once or twice a month to share innovative things in WordPress, present educational content, and help one another with their WordPress websites. No two meetups are the same. It all depends on who is coordinating and leading the local chapter. WordPress meetups are free, fun, and educational. Want to find a meetup near you? Go to meetup.com and search “WordPress” within 50 miles of your location. Join the meetup and attend when you can! (Note, meetups are run by volunteers. Speakers are volunteers. Everything around meetups is run by volunteers. You can volunteer, too, when you’re ready, but it’s not a requirement.)
What is a WordCamp?
WordCamps happen all over the world, too. They are usually city-based, and once a year there are huge regional camps (like WordCamp US, WordCamp Europe, and WordCamp Asia).
WordCamps are WordPress conferences. Unlike other industry conferences, WordCamps are very casual, very fun, and very affordable. Most WordCamps are held on weekends, at a cost of about $25/day (including food!). People attending WordCamps find the talks helpful, the swag fun, and the networking opportunities priceless. Find a WordCamp near you at wordcamp.org.
Attend a WordPress Meetup or WordCamp
Consider attending a meetup or WordCamp near you (or around the world). You never know what you might learn, who you might meet, or what connections you might make. You won’t know unless you go!
